Standard Chartered’s Global Economic Outlook

“We are entering the next phase of China‘s globalization.”

According to Marios Maratheftis, chief economist with global investment bank Standard Chartered, 2017 will be a different year for the global economy in comparison to the past 5-6 years. Anticipated fiscal stimulus in the United States, the vulnerability of emerging market currencies and growth in China are what to watch, among others, when looking at the global economy as a whole. Emerging market currencies are still exposed to action by the Federal Reserve and potentially higher interest rates. In this exclusive video, Maratheftis breaks down what to watch for in 2017, as more volatility takes hold and global politics remains a “theme.”
